What is Kosher?
- The animal must be slaughtered by a shochet — a person trained and certified to butcher animals according to Jewish laws.
- The shochet kills the animal with a quick, deep stroke across the throat with a sharp knife.
Why is this barbaric activity is still allowed in 2022?
- jleyank 4y agoHow does this compare to making things halal? Wikipedia seems to say they’re the same…
- Kukumber 4y agoBoth should be illegal
- quantified 4y agoYou could ask the same about circumcision. Religion is at least partly about maintaining traditions according to the ancient words, for religions whose gods don't show up that often.
- ls15 4y agoI don't think that religions should be allowed to do things to others that wouldn't be allowed under normal circumstances. That seems like a loophole that needs to be closed.
- quantified 4y agoWell, I think voters in democracies definitely want the right to be able to chop off sensitive bits of their little ones before they have any say in the matter. So food slaughter would be way down on the list of things that need fixing.
- JoeyBananas 4y agoHow would you feel if I banned you from doing something the way you want do it? Like what if tommorow someone banned veganism or whatever you're into?
