Who made a joke that sounded like "It's called AI until it works, then it's called software ?". I would add "...and then it does as much bad as what the user intended, plus just a little bit more." Putting us programmers out of jobs will feel weird because we're not used to it (I mean, we have weeks of news cycle because a couple of companies had layoffs - welcome to the real world where your job is not your family and your employer does not care personnaly about you.) But at least it will have _some_ karmic justice to it, given how many life we ruined by automation.
