I really like this, but FYI I do struggle to tell the difference between the first and last colour. There are probably others out there with this problem.

- marcuskaz 4y agoYou might have a slight color deficiency, you can try this online color vision acuity test: https://www.xrite.com/hue-test https://www.xrite.com/hue-test
- hayley-patton 4y agoI did it, decided to compare results, and saw > Best Score for your Gender -69420 > Worst Score for your Gender 1000000000 Someone doesn't sanitize their inputs?
- susam 4y agoI get this now: > Best Score for your Gender -2147483648 > Worst Score for your Gender 2147483647
- ygjb 4y agothat was a cool test, thanks for sharing it!
- dqh 4y agoYeah, I scored a 6 where 0 is perfect.
- skykooler 4y agoI scored a 0, but I still find the first and last colors to be hard to tell apart at a glance (though they might be easier to distinguish if they were right next to each other).

- erk__ 4y agoI scored a 0 and I have pretty bad colour vison (red-green/grey-pink) so I am not sure how much trust can be put into this test to determine that.
- kortex 4y agoI scored a perfect 0 and while I can tell the difference, it's still pretty close. Purple/violet colors are just hard to discern in general.
- FpUser 4y agoSame here. Nice fat zero. Not bad for 61yo
- tesseract 4y agoI had a hard time distinguishing them with night shift enabled on my display. With a daylight white point it was easier but they are still close.
- riffraff 4y agoI scored a 0 in this test (really cool btw!) but I also have trouble distinguishing the first and last color in the palette. I mean, I can see _some_ difference but they are very very close, and I am not sure I could distinguish them in, say, a line plot.
- CamperBob2 4y agoThis test has as much to do with the monitor's gamma correction and color fidelity as anything else, IMO. Whenever I was unsure of the order, dragging the window over to a different monitor helped immensely. I was able to get a 0 by doing that, which I don't think I could have done on either monitor by itself.
- Gordonjcp 4y agoMy colour vision is absolutely perfect, and I wouldn't want to have to distinguish between the first and last in isolation in difficult circumstances.
- ilyt 4y agoNot really, they are just similar if you put it next to eachother (both are essentially shades of purple/violet) and as they are at different ends of scale it could get confusing if used as heatmap
- ninkendo 4y ago> Attention! Please rotate your phone or view this test on a larger device for best results. It doesn’t even let me dismiss that message. Who does this? Intentionally breaking your whole site because it might not look good. (This is an iPhone 14 max, so already a pretty big screen, and I’m in portrait orientation.)
- luluthefirst 4y agoThe point is that the two ends of the spectrum look more similar than their own adjacent colors..
- icedchai 4y agoIt feels like there should be more red in the far left color. I can distinguish them fine, it just looks off.
- userbinator 4y agoI can tell the difference but they do look very similar. The first is a brighter magenta and the bottom is a darker one.
- dqh 4y agoI can also tell the difference, as displayed in a rainbow, but if they were next to each other in a data visualisation I think i'd have no chance.
- dspillett 4y agoOn my laptop and phone I can tell the two apart both together and with some distance between them when in relatively isolated blocks with similar surroundings. I might struggle if one were surrounded by brighter colours than the other, though human visual perception had trouble with that anyway (hence the "those two colours are actually the same" optical illusions). The screen I code/write/read on mainly is setup differently to be easier on the eye for long periods but is not as true in colour output, I think (I'm away from it right now so can't check) they may look nearer identical on there. I suspect people reporting difficulty seeing the difference will be a mix of differences in their eyes and differences in they screen configuration (or screen quality: some things can't be configured around).
- ww520 4y agoThey do look very close. The left one has more red while the right one has more blue.
- vgb2k18 4y ago#2cb and #0bc look the same for me, while the first and last are different enough. I know for sure I cannot complete a full ishihara plate test though so this one is on me.
- joemi 4y agoMight be your monitor. I've seen some that make various similar colors look exactly the same.
