One interesting property of the Laptop Class is the contempt with which they treat everyone else who isn’t part of the club. There are still countless posts from the lockdown era as evidence of this. Many right here on HN. People collecting 200k to sit at home in air conditioned rooms, tweeting rants at mom n pop shops calling them ignorant and stupid for the crime of having to go outside to make a living. Then reminding him how “we’re all in this together.” Just spend 5 minutes on HN or LinkedIn and watch how many of these pseudo-intellectuals talk down not only to outsiders but to one another. It’s really something to be hold it’s like a race to the bottom of people think they are the smartest / most morally superior members of society. Of course this is nothing new. Historically it was the church or academia. Now it’s the laptop class.
