Does anyone really want to hand their financial risks over to a company managed by Musk these days? Twitter seems headed towards FTX style management.
Moreover, this fantasy of making Twitter into WeChat is going to run hard into some of the reasons why WeChat evolved in the first place, which is consumers in China didn't have high penetration of credit cards like they have outside China, so e-commerce payments were difficult, WeChat made it easy.
But outside China, we've had CC payments for awhile, + PayPal, + Apple/Google Pay, Venmo, etc. There's ample competition, ample friction free alternatives, and they work on mobile and on the web. So shepherding everyone into some magic "X" app, and then getting all of the current e-commerce to support it, will work about as well as "Facebook Pay", which incidentally was tried, and failed.
The idea that everyone's going to switch over to Twitter Pay, especially if it's crypto-currency backed, is a delusion, and if you read the online ramblings of Sacks, Balaji, and the other Mafia members, it's a delusion born of politics, not practicality. They're not doing it because they think it will improve efficiency, or security, or usability, but because of a Randian-like hatred for government and regulation.

Whatever more shit he adds, I am sure he can sell it off to Murdoch, Zuckerberg, Disney, Google, Verizon, Comcast, Private equity etc. Cause they all run their own shit factories and are constantly looking to expand. And if that doesnt work there is always Kanye, the Saudis etc
