As with everything else coming out of the tech and mainstream media w.r.t. Elon+Twitter, this is BS. It's not about managers "standing up for" remote work. It's about whether managers lie to cover up bad performance. Quote from Elon's email:
> At risk of stating the obvious, any manager who falsely claims that someone reporting to them is doing excellent work or that a given role is essential, whether remote or not, will be exited from the company.
- rdtwo 4y agoI mean ok, so what if the work is essential but the worker isn’t hardcore? Lol what a dumpster fire
- NtochkaNzvanova 4y agoI were a manager who chose to stay (i.e., bought into "hardcore"), I would honestly report that to my manager. I can only speculate on what Elon would want to do in that situation, but I could imagine it might be "fire them, see if the work is really essential, and backfill with someone hardcore". As an aside, Twitter IMO has always been a dumpster fire, so it's amusing to see the media venting all their Elon hate, acting as if he's some incompetent wacko who knows nothing about how to run a business. Meanwhile actual criminal frauds in the crypto space are still getting adulatory press in the NYT. Where's the real "dumpster fire"?
- rdtwo 4y agoIf you didn’t see fraud in the crypto world you were blind. Anyone that did even basic transactions could see there was unsophisticated fraud everywhere
