  I wonder if Brave has greater market share than firefox today. Impossible to track because Brave doesn't try to be anything other than Chrome.

It seems the social licence for BIG TECH is slipping and there is a deep absence of trust. This seems to be coming at a good time, especially with renewed interested in open tech approaches like the fediverse.
