If you're coming from wpf and friends I can really recommend razor pages or blazor. Though razor pages are probably good enough especially if you are fine with running a server. The web is complex, but only as much as you choose it to be. I would also stick with running a lot of the calculations server side. Unless you really need the client interaction.
