For Western Weapons, the Ukraine War Is a Beta Test
- abudabi123 4y agoThe unit cost and UX of the US's sensor/shooter on tanks don't compare well to the UK's, an end of b-test tally on true effectiveness will be interesting to know. Corrosive lies don't only get away in Ru's army.
- aurizon 4y agoThe US Mil-Spec design/procurement/production is larded with pork at all levels. The good aspect is greater reliability - we have seen how badly some Russian stuff is made. The Mil-spec process had it's start with discrete components back in the day. I can recall cases where 1K 1/4W film resistors were tested one at a time, and each one x-rayed. Each one had a cost of over $10. Production and quality have advanced greatly so that now you can buy them for a cent each at Radio Shack types of shops with a reliability on the order of one failure in 10 million. At the same time we have progressed to sub-miniature IC's and surface mount tech so that when coupled with automatic testers with use of heat soaked assemblies that the main cost factor is the small runs of a few thousand assemblies where the parts cost is minimal compared to the cost of design/assemble/test - which can be 100 times the cost of the parts used in that production run. Japan faced this and produced VCR's that ran the USA/ROW out of competitive hopes = we make few, if any of these. Now the Russian stuff is crappy by comparison but they are able to make a lot of it. Ukraine is fortunate that Russians steal everything not nailed and sell it. Their officers allow this because they get parts of the take. The officers also sign off and approve soldier training courses - that the soldiers did not take or pass - they paid the officers who happily reported up the chain - 'We have a good army'. In fact Diesel engines, wiring harnesses, optics, copper etc had all been stripped from 5000 tanks in storage = so much scrap iron. It also explains why the Russian army was so easily defeated in Ukraine. Chinese tires failed after 200 miles = scrap iron. The US way is better, but needs cost and production method assessment and cost optimisation. For a good analysis of the Russian system watch this - it is an eye opener on how 500 Billion US$ equivalents was wasted on yachts and corruption in Russia. Does the US Mil-spec have similar horror stories / $1000 toilet seats come to mind. Russian lies and corruption ruins armies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz59GWeTIik&t=12s&ab_channel=Perun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz59GWeTIik&t=12s&ab_channel...

Doesn't look like they are interested in peace.. who pays for the weapons? Do they want to escalate the conflict so they can test even more weapons? was that why Poland got hit as "collateral damage"?
- theCrowing 4y agoIf someone tries to emotional manipulate you with a question at the end of a comment the answer is usually "No.".
- Kukumber 4y agoSometimes the question is more important than the actual answer Sometimes an answer reveals more than what one would have expected from the question In that case, none of the questions matter, but the intellectual process of reading it, and the ability to question the dogma are
