My thoughts on the topic of large-scale "AI" plagiarism:

Discussed numerous times here on Hacker News.
We are witnessing a monstrous perversion of "fair use" and the greatest theft of intellectual property in human history.
But the "AI bros" love it.
- voz_ 4y agoYou've conflated (justified? I dont know, havent thought about it enough) concerns about a specific model / company / tool with a whole area of research, study, and practice. On top of that, you write with an air of someone that isn't interested in a conversation, and just wants to soapboax, so I have nothing constructive left to say to you. If you ever choose to take an inquisitive approach to AI, ML, or whatever you want to call it, you'll be the first to benefit.
- bugfix-66 4y agoI work at the most important company in the "AI" industry, a company you hear about every day. I write GPU kernels for transformers and convolutions. You probably use my BLAS kernels in your networks. I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. I also know the "AI bros" don't have a clue.

- debugnik 4y agoWell, it's hard to take seriously an appeal to authority about themselves if we're also supposed to take their word for their credentials.

- stavros 4y agoAre you saying you'll post proof if someone eponymous asks for it? Consider yourself asked.
- bugfix-66 4y agoIt's possible to prove employment at a company without revealing your identity. But he didn't follow through. That's ok. People are very passionate about "AI" and disillusionment can be painful. Many "AI bros" don't understand the technology. But they really want to believe.

- EMIRELADERO 4y agoYou worked in cuBLAS? You mean the internal code that makes up cuBLAS?
- EMIRELADERO 4y agoIntellectual property is not private property to begin with. The fair use doctrine (and constitutional right) proves that. If society's particular specific use of a work outweighs the rightsholder's monopoly on its distribution, it can be ruled as such and whoever is making that fair use can continue and won't be penalized.
