I got slack removed from my organization by pointing out that it interrupts people, and causes a non-permanent record of important discussions. But a new person came in and started it up again and I can't get rid of it.
Ultimately, I just individually let it be known that I don't check Slack because it interrupts my work, send me an e-mail if you need to reach me.
- darkstar999 4y ago> causes a non-permanent record of important discussions That's your organization's problem, not Slack's. The same could be said of discussions in conference rooms, video calls, hallways, or email. In fact, Slack improves on most of those situations by giving you a permanent record that can be searched.
- animitronix 4y agoIf you're on the correct plan it's a permanent record. We insist people default to asking questions in public channels instead of DMs for this very reason (so others can search and find the answer).
- _yb2s 4y agoThe free plan (still more expensive than what this terrible software is worth) only keeps 90 days of history.
