Berlin startup to wrap homes in 'second skin' as heating costs soar
- ZeroGravitas 4y agoInsulation isn't the new thing here: > a new law that splits a CO2 levy between tenants and landlords depending on buildings' efficiency. There's now a market for this due to regulation to ensure the people who make the decisions bear the costs.
- Spivak 4y agoWait that’s so dumb, why should the tenants be responsible at all for this levi? This should work like property taxes, built into the rent in a vague sense but ultimately paid by the landlord. What in the regulatory capture did landlords do to get such a sweetheart deal?
- ZeroGravitas 4y agoBecause leaving a window open while running a heater/aircon can be incentivized as much as fitting a more efficient heater/aircon can.
- downrightmike 4y agoMultiple ply plastic wrap may be the best for the immediate need. Make it bio degradable and re apply each fall. It'll look like shit though
- amadeuspagel 4y agoFitting for this site, since it's kind of a hack in the sense pg defined the term—he gave taping something with duct tape to your bicycle as an example.
