How does one upgrade? WSL already nags me from this morning that "A new WSL update is available." But when I try to update it says that I already run the most recent version, which I don't - reported version is 0.70.5.0.

"wsl --update --web-download" will pull version 1.0.0

  I tried that but got > The most recent version of Windows Subsystem for Linux is already installed. I'm stuck on 0.70.4.0

Download the MSIX package from the GitHub release and install it with Add-AppxPackage in an elevated PowerShell session.
