AngelList Talent is now Wellfound.com
- aliqot 4y agoYou know how when your local hospital gets bought out by a corp, and then everything starts to feel rushed and commoditized? AngelList already had an air of desperation, and this makes it feel like one last bloodthirsty hoorah to really scrape the last bit out of the jug before binning it. Also, why is the text only displaying after I scroll past it? Just let me see the content.
- joelrunyon 4y agoWho bought Angel List?
- metadaemon 4y agoI've actually had success with AngelList Talent in the past. I prefer the name change because I can never remember if there are two Ls or just one.
- btown 4y agoIronically, https://www.welfound.com/ https://www.welfound.com/ with one L appears to be a (much smaller) existing job platform - so good luck with your confusion, and have fun, lawyers! In seriousness, on the hiring side I've found AngelList Talent to be one of the more solid sources of thoughtful, passionate candidates. As the entire tech sector, not just angel-adjacent stages, is transforming before our eyes, it's great timing that Wellfound is forging a broader identity. I hope the branding issues don't cause problems, because I hope to continue using the platform!
- amitm 4y agoWe couldn't be more dedicated to Wellfound. By spinning out from AngelList, we think we can hone in even more on our unique audience and elevate the product. There was a lot of friction from a shared brand and codebase from the investor side.
- sf_rob 4y agoI never understand why a brand with great name recognition and branding does this kind of thing. Also, I'm really getting to the point where all scrolling low information eye-candy landing pages should have a giant <Take me to a simple landing page> button.
- amitm 4y agoWe think Wellfound better embodies the spirit of finding what's next. Our sister company AngelList Venture is continuing on as AngelList. Hear you on the landing page scrolling
- jbirer 4y agoIt's less descriptive than the old name though.
- amitm 4y agoAs a job marketplace, we were never "a list of angels". AngelList Venture, which in many ways still is, continues on with the name AngelList.

- CharlesW 4y ago> We think Wellfound better embodies the spirit of finding what's next. "Wellfound" definitely does not suggest that, at least to me. The associations I make are health or search related. I'm curious which agency did the rebrand work.

- XCSme 4y ago"Wellfound" sounds like an app for finding wells to get water from in your area.
- ulfw 4y agoSounds like some obscure medical or wellness company. I sure will quickly forget the name and thus the website.

- neilv 4y agoNo judgment on goodness of the name, but some feedback... Even as I saw the "found" (as in founding a company), I insta-associated to health&wellness space, and then to Wealthfront. When I later saw the name written again, I got the "well-founded" semi-pun association. I too thought it's non-memorable, until the "well-founded" association. I'll have to work on pronunciation; by default, comes out as "welf-hound". I suppose the name will become familiar as we see it used. And I'm a little glad I won't have to decide whether to say "AngelList" or "angel.co" when referring to the site.
- twelve40 4y agoyeah, very weird. We've made a couple of really really good hires off of Angellist over the years, and although we didn't get too many overall leads from them, I always had this at the back of my mind, angellist=startups=startup hire leads. This, on the other hand, is instantly forgettable. Just killed a good brand, weird.
- trustful88 4y agoGlad to see this, since I utilize both sites (Venture v. Talent). Seen success on both, so this will at least help differentiate versus having to remember one or the other.

- honestduane 4y agoAngelList was bought by ServiceNow and destroyed. AngelList Talent is just a recruitment trap designed to underpay you, right?
- amitm 4y agoall of this is false
- ianwalter 4y agoCongrats! This is a good move and I'm excited to see the platform become better.
- pixxel 4y agoThe name Wellfound feels like the result of searching for weeks for an available .com and social handles. Eventually through a delirious haze you convince yourself you have a winner.
- revskill 4y agoShould be wellfunded instead ?
- yumraj 4y agoI have no idea what's happening with Angellist. Sometime ago I was looking and was surprised to find that they no longer allow startups to list themselves and raise funding. Their model seems to have changed completely from how they'd initially launched, and IMHO succeeded.
- izolate 4y agoSidenote: does anybody else find this type of website hard to read? Seems like animated text on scroll is all the rage these days. But I find it takes the focus off the copy, and makes it harder to read quickly.
- donretag 4y agoLinks to actual content simply go back to https://angel.co/jobs https://angel.co/jobs. Wellfound is basically just a landing page at this point. When searching for a job, especially in a startup, I found Angel List worthless. All primary results were basically massive companies like Amazon.
- andirk 4y agoSounds like Wolfhound. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" is ironically not even true if we leave the name of the flower "rose" because we've inbred the scent out of most popular versions in favour of transit durability.
