Changelog
Removed the "Preview" label - WSL in the Store is now generally available!
Use an override in generator.early to prevent the /tmp/.X11-unix socket from being removed during boot
Don't create a pty for systemd to fix issue where systemd would time out during boot
- ljm 4y agoDidn't realise WSL used systemd now - for a long time it had its own init system.
- papercrane 4y agoIt's pretty new, released late September. They still have their own init system. If you are using a systemd enabled distro then their init will become a child process of systemd, allowing systemd to have PID 1. https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/systemd-support-is-now-available-in-wsl/ https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/systemd-support-i...
- CoolCold 4y agoyeah, I finally (for last month or so) can have LXD based Virtual Environments right in my WSL - saves me from using separate VM for just that
- anderspitman 4y agoThe creator of systemd works at Microsoft now[0]. Not sure if that factored into the change. systemd seems pretty heavy for VMs, but apparently they still start fast so there must be ways to optimize it.
