I get that it's very hard to sift through and as an outside observer it's easy to focus on the failed evolutionary paths, but in situations like these, it will be only obvious in hindsight which applications turned out to be most useful to people. Even "speculative" or financial use cases are valid. Speculation is an important part about how markets function.
