It would be totally possible to make the journey -- just remove the roof rack, drive 20mph slower, and spend a few hours in advance mapping out precisely where and when to stop for charging.
Or buy a gasoline car and just ... drive to your destination along any route you like, at any time you like, with any cargo you like, at whatever speed you like.
- hactually 4y agofor the amount fuel will cost over the coming decade, you'd be better off getting a taxi for those few trips at high speed you need.
- codefreeordie 4y agoIt is unlikely that electricity won't increase in price more or less in line with gasoline. Plus, one 150mi taxi ride, at a cost of about $1000 today buys an awful lot of gas. And if you go out 150mi, you probably want to come home, so now you're talking $2000 in taxi fare for that one weekend trip to see Grandma. This is all a recipe for returning to an era where mostly people are born, live their life, and die, all within 100mi. Which is really actually the point of the exercise, of course.
