Apple to Source Chips from Arizona Starting in 2024
- genmud 4y agoI believe it. I live nearby the new TSMC plant and they are booking it on construction. A couple years ago I was like, nah… they ain’t gonna build it by 2024, but they have blown away all my expectations.
- tibbydudeza 4y agoThat is good for the US and the world - having all of our major semiconductor manufacturing concentrated in Taiwan and South Korea is not a good thing in the long run. Afaik Intel has fabs in the US and Israel, but nobody except them uses their process nodes - are they trying to change that.
- christkv 4y agoYes they have announced they will start doing contract production. That being said, that is a very big change organizationally and culturally. I don’t know if they will manage to balance the demands of the mothership vs the external clients. Who gets preference ?
