Sam Bankman-Fried’s support for Democrats is massively overstated
- xqcgrek2 4y agoIs it? https://www.opensecrets.org/outside-spending/top_donors/2022?disp=D&type=V&superonly=N https://www.opensecrets.org/outside-spending/top_donors/2022... and https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/ftx-us/summary?id=D000073694 https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/ftx-us/summary?id=D00007369...
- lupire 4y agoThis is thoroughly discussed in the article.
- infamouscow 4y agoIf SBF was the second largest GOP donor, Vox wouldn't be writing a headline saying his political donations were overblown. These are clowns and propagandists, not journalists.
- lupire 4y agoAs the article explains, $11M of his $36M went to a candidate who lost in the primary.
- mattwilsonn888 4y agoSomehow that doesn't count as support?
- infamouscow 4y agoThat's my point. Maybe 80% of people just read the headlines, 20% read the articles. If SBF was donating to GOP, the headlines would say something like how the GOP allowed a billionaire donor to skirt around regulators. Then you get a second article criticizing SBF for donating to a radical candidate that received a fringe minority of votes.
- DLA 4y agoVox is gaslighting! Hard data says otherwise.
