I believe HPCVC charging is targeting up to 3 Megawatts for heavy vehicles 1500V X 2000A. This would allow a megawatt hour battery to charge in 20 minutes, still not as good a diesel pump which is probably closer to 6-10MW equivalent, I know I can put 60+ gallons in my tank in a few minutes with the high flow diesel truck pumps. Truly staggering amount of power.
To think of it another way a typical US home has 200 amp service at 240V which is 48 kilowatts or about 64 horsepower if you maxed it out. A 80,000lbs semi on flat ground no wind doing 70mph needs at around 200 wheel horse power to maintain speed so around 150 kw constant draw or about 3 houses full tilt.
Will be a while before this makes sense for long haul trucking, diesel well remain dominate for some time. Short haul urban where they stop and go at lower speeds and return to home base and can take many hours to charge seems obvious now, same with buses.
