Bloomberg terminal is the ultimate device for making information not available to people, so traders can front-run customers, collude, do backroom deals, and other nefarious stuff. I am surprised sheeple don't consider that a crime. I don't think it's the terminal that we are missing, it's transparency. But hey, why not!

  Wut? For example the entire Libor manipulation scandal came about because literally every interaction is on bbg logged for compliance purposes. I'll venture a guess you've never even been in a room with one. Possibly building.

  Oh c'mon. Anybody who's anybody who wants to pay the terminal fee can play too. As far as I understand it, sales/marketing at Bloomberg like it that way. Thou does protest too much.

      This is silly. When your $2000/month doesn't give you $2000/month value for all the stuff it has ... Feel write to write a complete replacement or complain to sales. Complaining isn't an argument, so you prob won't get far there. Now you can also write your own with smaller scope. That's totally legit. But don't write it's Bloomberg like or as expansive. People in the biz know better much better. You know darn well you would not charge 2, 20, 200, or $750/month for a complete replacement you wrote ... Who'd invest knowing the zillions you spent making it and with investors knowing bbg set a higher benchmark with reason?

  If it's in the Bloomberg Terminal, it's already table stakes. Front-running anything based on Bloomberg data is basically laughable, if you ask any big player in the financial industry.

It doesn't seem to have chat which from what I've heard is one of (if not the) most valuable part of Bloomberg Terminal. From a quick read of the landing page linked, it seems to just be an analysis platform, not the full fledged platform that Bloomberg is.

  It’s true that the chat function is the most important part, especially because of who are in your chat list, but I don’t think this is important to retail investors. Most of the data you can get from bbg are stuffs that they bought from other sources, you can maybe get only things that relevant to your analysis and it might be cheaper.

I used to be a fx trader for a real money fund, basically bbg was my habitat. One thing I wish bbg does better is the flexibility in creating you own composite ticker from a custom calculation, and use it later. This, tho, can be done in bbg but it’s super limited and not convenient at all. Hope this help!

It’s true that the chat function is the most important part, especially because of who are in your chat list, but I don’t think this is important to retail investors.
