The concept of "belief in God" is slippery and full of cultural baggage. Does it mean following a traditional religion and assuming all its belief structure? Does it mean a vague feeling that there may be some kind of deity out there? Does it involve a belief in fate or karma, or being judged by some supernatural entity? Does it include the Eastern concept of God being one's own innermost essence? Surveys like this are, at best, Sunday supplement amusement and little else. USA Today is the perfect place for them.
