France uses a custom made declarative language for algorithms of public interest
- sirobg 4y agoFor now everything is written in French but the github (i) states that they "intend to translate the language and the documentation in the coming weeks". (i) https://github.com/betagouv/publicodes https://github.com/betagouv/publicodes
- dang 4y agoWe have nothing but respect for la belle langue but it would be better to submit the English version once it's available. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&query=by%3Adang%20english-language%20site&sort=byDate&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...
- sirobg 4y agoSorry. I thought the site was so simple that a bit of Google Translate would be enough, but I understand. Seems I cannot edit anymore. What should I do? In the meantime, the "english version": https://publi-codes.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=fr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://publi-codes.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=fr&_x_tr_tl=en&...
- abstractbeliefs 4y agoThat's true, but it was 2.5 years ago they added that statement: https://github.com/betagouv/publicodes/commit/59fa78f6bcbc02624dc85b7eb2a39abaf723715c https://github.com/betagouv/publicodes/commit/59fa78f6bcbc02...
- sirobg 4y agoOh indeed! Seems it's not a priority The repo is still active and Publicodes is still displayed on official french websites though: Original [FR]: https://mon-entreprise.urssaf.fr/d%C3%A9veloppeur https://mon-entreprise.urssaf.fr/d%C3%A9veloppeur Translated [EN]: https://mon--entreprise-urssaf-fr.translate.goog/d%C3%A9veloppeur?_x_tr_sl=fr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://mon--entreprise-urssaf-fr.translate.goog/d%C3%A9velo...
- ploppyploppy 4y agoFrance is a nation of "not invented here syndrome".
- sirobg 4y agoI'm not sure if it is a general standpoint or if it is related specifically to this post, but I personally didn't post this thinking it was a brand new concept. I was just glad to see that some efforts are made in order to "facilitate" algorithms understanding "by everyone". Of course that is the debatable part. If know where this kind of thing has been attempted before (and how it ended up?), don't hesitate to share some links, I would be curious to know more!
