- whimsicalism 4y agoThe internet and the rise of free, low-quality advertising driven outlets killed most of it by ~2010-2012. My entire family worked in the industry, most of the damage was already done by then. Just look at the number of working journalists over time. We are just in the aftermath, where only behemoths like NYT or outlets willing to be domesticated by billionaires can survive.
