- vidarh 4y agoWhat is new is that as of the last couple of years India too reached replacement, and so only sub-Saharan Africa is now above replacement, and that is also dropping. And so now a lot of these changes are becoming imminent. E.g. we will see within 1-2 decades how China responds to either having to take massive steps to boost fertility rates or allowing more immigration if they want to prevent population decline which would put their economic growth in severe jeopardy. India will face the same a few decades later. The west is facing it now, and how anti-immigration settlement vs. need for labour will affect politics is going to be an even bigger question going forward than it has been.
