After so many people have nailed their egos to the belief that social distancing and isolation, as well as mask wearing, etc. are very definitely good and that anyone violating those rules is very definitely bad, it's hard for them to accept that it might have been harmful. Similarly, for their opponents who were offended by those measures, it's hard not to go hunting for reasons why they were bad.
