If you do not show up at the office, resignation accepted
- jleyank 4y agoOh boy, does office or resign invalidate employment agreements? Does this free people from any restrictions upon exit or even open up chances for lawsuits?
- sn0w_crash 4y agoHow does asking someone to come into an office become a lawsuit? I work from home and even I know that sounds ridiculous. People can go work elsewhere.
- jleyank 4y agoIf my employee agreement says fully WFH and I’ll be fired if I don’t switch to the office the company is unilaterally voiding my employee agreement. This can be a no-no in terms of state or even federal law and might free the employee from whatever they agreed to. More money to lawyers.
- dtagames 4y agoDon't count on it. Most work in the US is "at-will" employment. Either you or the employer may terminate at any time without cause or obligation. Very few people actually have work contracts. The agreement you probably signed to accept your job is about your obligations and the company rules. It doesn't promise you can work at home. Having said that, it's shitty of Elon and stupid, too.
- icedchai 4y agoYep. There is also generally vague language saying your job includes "other duties as required." The end result of these "agreements" are essentially generic and as useless as the paper their printed on (which is usually none these days.) One would be wasting their time and money talking to lawyers, though I'm sure they'd take it anyway.
- wmf 4y agoDo Twitter employees have employment agreements?
