Compared to my Quest 2 with an aftermarket halo strap, the Pro is a device filled with tradeoffs and oddities even on aspects that you’d think are obvious upgrades.
Eg: the screen is remarkably clear in the periphery - but in dark environments it exhibits a very obvious yellow light bleed reminiscent of IPS glow. Supposedly this is an artifact of local dimming not yet being enabled - but it remains unknown as to whether Meta will be able to fix this universally since it’s apparently computationally expensive and the XR2 SoC is very obviously struggling.
Like the reviewer, I’m most impressed by the Touch Pro controllers. The Quest 2 is getting a firmware update this month that adds support for the Touch Pro so I may actually end up going back to the older headset and picking up a pair of the new controllers.
