NMN Supplements Banned by FDA
- rogerkirkness 4y agoI take NMN, so this was a scary headline. But it's NMN from a specific company.
- hericium 4y agoI've got bad news for you. It only mentions NR but NMN falls into the NAD+ metabolism category: "A bioluminescent-based probe for in vivo non-invasive monitoring of nicotinamide riboside uptake reveals a link between metastasis and NAD+ metabolism"[1] [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33569343 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33569343
- rogerkirkness 4y agoI found it fixed long Covid in two weeks for me thanks to boosting NAD+ but I haven't taken it routinely prior to that. This result sort of makes sense, but when people say 'boost' immune system that doesn't sound like science.
- alliexandras 4y agoOxidation is not bad. It is essential and necessary process, and it's important to keep oxidants and antioxidants in balance. High amounts of NAD+ will throw off that balance. Since molecular and cellular things can be hard to correlate, you can see large-scald examples of how increasing oxidation is even beneficial in some cases, by searching for things like post-operative scar-tissue reduction from applying strong oxidizers like hypochlorous acid.
