I never knew Aaron Swartz. But I will always celebrate his day, as is his due. Please show your appreciation to the Internet Archive and others for sponsoring and hosting this justly appropriate memorial. Swartz was a bright advocate of intellectual freedom, but also vulnerable young man wrongly harassed by authoritarian nincompoops at MIT and the US Federal Government in an unlawful escalation. To this day, I remain angry at the unethical treatment of Swartz at the hands of the US Attorney Stephen Heymann, US Attorney Carmen Ortiz (appointed by Barack Obama, Ortiz notably resigned rather than be fired by Donald Trump), and Attorney General Eric Holder, who defended the government’s actions as “reasonable".
