I've heard a large number of non-native English speakers and British-English speakers pronounce "route" as "root". I can easily see an American-English speech-to-text or just American-English speakers choose "root" hearing one of these people pronouncing "route". When I first heard "root" I got very confused because we were talking to Unix-adjacent stuff so I thought they were talking about the root user. Don't jump to conclusions.
