There is a cancerous anomie metastasizing in the scientific community [lab leak]
- xchip 4y agoI'd appreciate less click & bait headlines.
- ricksunny 4y agoI agree that as headlines go this one sounds sensational; but Twitter threads lack headlines. This was the first complete phrase that fit within HN's title char limit.
- a9h74j 4y agoThe link as I find it is to a thread moderately excoriating scientists for remaining silent while somewhat-implicated researchers and journals practiced something of a coverup in favor of a natural origins hypothesis. The post title here could suggest that any such speech is cancerous. Alternately, it could suggest that the scientific community has rendered itself a ripe host for dark conscience based upon some collective rot.
- ricksunny 4y agoNot disagreeing; From HN guidelines (https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html ) >Otherwise please use the original title, unless it is misleading or linkbait; don't editorialize. It looks like I don't have a free hand to make a more descriptive title, even while it's possible to edit it.
- ricksunny 4y agoThere, I've updated it to tighten up context. I think h̶o̶p̶e̶ it's within guideline bounds.
- moistly 4y agoThis seems to be a rant from someone convinced beyond all doubt that the virus was lab-developed. Which I think is fine. Let’s say it was developed in a lab. Now what? How does it change things? My best guess: maybe bio labs take safety a little more seriously? Maybe someone gets executed? Not much else is going to happen. Tilting at windmills IMO. Makes you feel like a hero, doesn’t accomplish anything.
