Mourning Mastodon (2017)
- PaulHoule 4y agoI used to be a volunteer at a mediation center that did parenting plans. Our process did not require the parties to discuss the past and did not allow us to either encourage or discourage this discussion, but they frequently did. Often to an outsider the story made so sense at all because the couples had a long history of experiences with intense affect and significance. Fortunately we had no need to understand this at all because our role was just to support the parties in having the conversation they want to have. This article has that feel of a private discussion of a person situation that doesn't make a lot of sense to an outsider. It contrasts to the Twitter meltdown which has been cut into small digestible slices and for which the background is widely known. The Twitter meltdown has the distinction though that it is developing so fast that it is better followed through postings on Twitter since c̷l̷i̷c̷k̷b̷a̷i̷t̷ legacy publications such as The Atlantic are delayed by 72 hours and hopelessly out of date by the time you read them.
