This isn't CAR-T, which is a chimeric antigen receptor (antibody) grafted onto a T cell. This is a T cell with an edited TCR receptor. This is quite different and comes under the 'adoptive TIL' category of treatments. It allows targeting of antigens not displayed on the cell surface. Every cell has to process their protein through a proteasome and present those peptides on the cell surface, which is where the advantage of this type of treatment comes in. In CAR-T we target a surface protein, and there's nothing to stop the cancer removing that protein from the cell surface.
