The pushback against remote work is definitely accelerating, with productivity metrics showing large decreases. It's interesting how productivity seemed to rise when remote work started in 2020 and now seems to be lagging.
- jleyank 4y agoI suspect the metrics show a problem because those soliciting the metric want it to. Unless you can walk to work, commuting is a problem. No matter where you’re located, some people don’t want to (or can’t) live there. If you want to have the smaller hiring pool, go for in-the-office. Blindly pushing this, coupled with the layoffs, suggests there’s a lot of excess staff. Doesn’t bode well for salaries.
