Fuck around and find out.....about Kessler syndrome?
(I am being glib, but this is potentially a real problem, see https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/spacexs-starlink-could-cause-cascades-of-space-junk/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/spacexs-starlink-...)
- HideousKojima 4y agoAll Starlink sats will deorbit in under 5 years if unmaintained, please get a basic understanding of orbital mechanics before repeating nonsense like this. Edit: And shame on Scientific American for spreading the same nonsense. Also Starlink has automated collision avoidance systems that make them even less likely to collide than most sats currently in orbit, see the comments on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/space/comments/p7c96z/spacex_starlink_satellites_responsible_for_over/ https://www.reddit.com/r/space/comments/p7c96z/spacex_starli...
- matthewmcg 4y agoWell, even though you consider it "nonsense" it was serious enough to be given consideration in their regulatory approvals.
