It is a bit different from methanol presence cases in alcoholic beverages such as wine, I don't think that anyone (if not in very rare accidents) would drink hand sanitizer and even if using it several times a day I doubt that methanol in them can be absorbed transdermally in relevant quantities.
Good that they have been checked and recalled, but it sounds like an over-hyped alarm.
- qbrass 4y agoPeople who can't buy booze will drink it to get drunk, mostly kids who both can't legally drink and have access to plenty of hand sanitizer. They're being tactful by saying accidentally ingested instead of "Your kid went blind from chugging hand sanitizer."
- jaclaz 4y agoInteresting, at least here these hand sanitizers tend to be a soapy goop, a sort of alcoholoc shampoo, I could not imagine that anyone would attempt to drink it.
