I've often wondered how well an adaptive learning system using cameras at each floor would work. The cameras would record how many people are waiting for the elevator and tweak the algorithms accordingly. Historical data could be collected based on time of day, day of week, etc. Could be combined with the building's existing security cameras for cost savings.
