IMHO there are two ends about "social media" On one end, everything is about identity. People build the portfolio, there's influencers, celebs, career networking etc. Everything is about the "character", as described in Karl Popper's World 2. On the other end, everything is about interest. I don't care if a developer is a Trump supporter as long as his code is open and politics-free. I want to "like" a picture of the beautiful natural world shared on IG regardless of OP's sexual orientation. Everything is about "ideas", as described in Karl Popper's World 3. In the past these two ends are mix and merged in one "social media world", now it seems that these two worlds are disengaging from each other. For platform owners, you have to choose only one. Choose wisely.
