Everything he says on the email makes sense, except 7 years later I don’t believe anyone other than Apple will be able to build realistic AR hardware any time soon, and no one will care that Meta was first with their platform. Apple can easily build the platform/ecosystem on top of what they already have overnight, once their hardware has cornered the market.
- karmakaze 4y agoThere is some first mover advantage, but in the long run, it's true--no one will care who was first. Apple has a good shot at a general consumer platform, not so much for gaming. Microsoft or Valve/Steam has a shot at gaming, and maybe Sony. For business, MS again has a shot as does Meta. HP can access some parts of it but I can't say they have good experience in delivering the software part of a platform.
