How to Design Web3 Platform Governance
- jerojero 4y agoGovernance is the only aspect of web3/blockchain that I find actually interesting. Though good governance tends to lead to democratic structures and democratic structures lead to more egalitarian distributions... which I don't think is an idea that flows too well in the most popular arm of blockchain which is crypto. For a while, during the NFT craze, there was this whole up-sellling point of "DAOs" they would say "no, we are a DAO, we have a governance model" but from all the DAOs that I saw, none of them really tried to implement good governance structures. It's a difficult thing, a lot of crypto enthusiasts went with pay to vote models which, imo, are quite defective at driving projects forward. It would be interesting to see better and "newer" ideas such as sortition and citizens assemblies incorporated into the governance model of these projects. But like I said, maybe the whole point of it is not to actually be democratically owned and decentralized but simply to appear to be democratically owned and decentralized.
