My job included SharePoint administration and building simple workflows for a few years, I hated it with a passion. It's not just bloated and complicated, the documentation is a cruel joke. Some of their software I actually grew to like - SQL Server first and foremost, but also Visual Studio, and PowerShell - but SharePoint was a Lovecraftian nightmare the last time I had anything to do with it. And I have to say, I am so glad I am not the only one to see it that way! I feel your pain! (And yes, I have suspected at times it was a conspiracy to generate lucrative contracts for consultants and trainers.)
