I used to feel that way re Ryzen, but 12th and 13th gen Intel has matched it (and with E-cores has exceeded it in many respects).

- CameronNemo 4y agoWhat do you mean by "matched" or "exceeded"? Are you saying Intel has better performance per watt? Or better idle power consumption? Which Zen generation are you comparing to? Zen 3, 3+, or 4?
- howinteresting 4y agoRaptor Lake is roughly equivalent in perf/watt to Zen 4 and Apple's M series, at least going by eco mode benchmarks. Seems like E cores would get better idle consumption as well. The days of 14nm+++++++ are over. edit: sorry meant Raptor Lake.
- CameronNemo 4y agoI have a hard time believing that Intel is beating Apple Silicon in performance per watt.
- howinteresting 4y agoSo did I until I saw the Cinebench numbers at 65W.
- CameronNemo 4y agoSo why not link them?
- howinteresting 4y agoMostly because I can't find them with a quick Google search and I don't want to put more time into it. edit: found them: https://www.club386.com/intel-core-i9-13900k-vs-amd-ryzen-9-7950x-at-125w-and-65w/ https://www.club386.com/intel-core-i9-13900k-vs-amd-ryzen-9-... M1 ultra Cinebench is 21700 or so.
