I remember back in 2010 when I did my ERASMUS stay in Prague, and mapy.cz and their startpage (can't remember the URL or name) was leagues ahead of anything I had seen up until them. Way ahead of Google. And, at the same time, the interface was straightforward, clear and concise. It felt effortless, in no insecure need to "feel cool". Its only preoccupation was being extremely useful in the most honest way. I felt enamoured with it. And it even had great naps for my own country, which isn't exactly close by.
