I'd like to read the full article, but there's a paywall. Looking at the thesis, a lot of these takes seems to miss one or more of the following contexts:
1. Musk can do things other CEO's can't do because he's a celebrity with fanatics.
2. Musk is on his back foot with 1 billion dollars a year in debt interest payments.
3. Musk may be a once in a generation business genius, or he may be, I'll say "less empathetic / slower amygdala" or a number of qualities that wouldn't generalize very well. He also works like 18 hours a day. So yeah, someone else could fire half of their staff when they get into a company, but would they have the stomach for it?
