When I was a junior dev I applied for a position at a London based investment bank. I was more of a DBA dev and was trying to get a start in application dev. Some mega-nerd spent an hour asking me 100 things I knew nothing about. What were the different networking layers involved in connecting to an external HTTP endpoint? What is the eden space in Java? How do you optimise memory allocation? What is big O notation? The guy was basically getting a kick out of knowledge shaming and it went on for a good hour. I've no idea why he'd waste both of our time on it. I think he was eating in the background, maybe having a laugh with buddies. There are complete sociopaths/bullys out there. Expect and avoid these losers.
