Because at the time, it was the only way you could message people who weren't on phones and on phones. Over time that changed. Now, it's basically a US thing.

Because at the time, it was the only way you could message people who weren't on phones and on phones.
Over time that changed.
Now, it's basically a US thing. In other countries messaging apps are used by the majority.
- lotsofpulp 4y agoiMessage was launched Oct 2011. iOS had plenty of cross platform messaging apps by then.
