Because not everyone is on Apple, and not being able to use it with people on other platforms also hurts Apple user's experiences. That's what lead to the iPhone-using journalist's complaint about messaging that lead to Tim Cook's "buy your mom an iPhone".
- dwaite 4y agoWhen Apple says they build products that they want to use, thats because they sell an experience. So when a journalist complains their Android-using parent has a bad experience, of course the default answer would be "buy them an iPhone".
- ThatPlayer 4y agoMy point is that it's not only journalist's parent having a bad experience. The journalist's experience is worse for it. And having to buy their parent a new phone isn't exactly an amazing experience either.
