On OSX, you might be able to do something similar using dyld's interposing feature (http://opensource.apple.com/source/dyld/dyld-132.13/include/mach-o/dyld-interposing.h http://opensource.apple.com/source/dyld/dyld-132.13/include/...) to replace write() and the dyld equivalent to LD_PRELOAD, DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES.
