Call me an old fogy (all right, I am), but I prefer recorded music as it was originally conceived and created. With all the flaws and limitations of the technology available at the time, it was still the vision of the artists and producers. There's a certain raw immediacy about hearing the original that no remix can improve on.
- ZeroGravitas 4y agoA wrinkle in this is that at the time, mono sound may have been the main intended output, and stereo mixes done at the time might have been considered novelty throwaways, but then later become the default option. So redoing such stereo mixes seems less bad, though I do generally seek out the mono option when it is available.
